Antiquing For Bootleg Youtube At The Last Beach 8/24/25

Today, I saw that there was (what I think was) a honeybee stuck inside my parents bedroom. So, with a little bit of help with my mom, we set him free! Ya know, I was a little on the fence before, but now, I think I really do like bees.

...Oh, this has nothing to do with the post, this is just a thing that happened a few minutes ago and I really wanted to write about it. Anyway...

The new map is finished! The one I'm talking about is gm_sanded. You can find it in the MAKINGS page where I put all my other hammer maps.

A computer generated 3D image of a small, stone-brick castle on a small island that's populated with various trees. You can see that there are two small holes in the roof of the castle; one being where a ladder is ment to lead people through, the other being the product of trauma. A computer generated 3D image of Ruby from Animal Crossing walking inside of one of the three rooms of the stone-brick castle seen in the first image. The room she is walking around in is unlit, and very dark. She has a surprised look on her face as she looks into the camera in the room she's walking by.

She's probably surprised by the camera, which has it's flash on.

The development was a tiny bit shakey, but I think it turned out pretty good. Why don't you see for yourself? Go play it! (If ya can, of course)

Went to my local record store this month. Here's what I got:

A photo of three Compact Disc jewel cases placed on a pink fabric backdrop.

The CDs in question are, left to right, Stereolab's Instant Holograms On Metal Film, Suddenly, Tammy!'s self-titled debut and Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run. A photo of four Cassette cases placed on a pink fabric backdrop.

The Cassettes in question are, left to right, top to bottom, Shonen Knife's Burning Farm, 360's Supernatural, Jon Anderson's In The City Of Angels and The Raincoats' self-titled debut.

While I usually am a collector of CDs, whenever I'm there, I like grabbing random stuff from the massive cassette wall they have and try to find stuff I never heard/heard of. (I mean, these things are, like, 3 to 10 times cheaper than CDs. I'm practically stealing.) This hual is a little strange, for reasons I'll get to later, but for now, my thoughts...

The new Stereolab album is great if you haven't heard it and like their stuff, Suddenly, Tammy!'s self-titled debut is OK, but not much to talk about, same goes for 360's Supernatural ( Suddenly, Tammy! did have a website though if you're interested), Jon Anderson's In The City Of Angels is uhh... certainly an album by the lead vocalist of Yes, and Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run is good, but I can't say much else about it. Feels like I should relisten to it. I kinda want to like Bruce Springsteen...

But I've saved both the best and worst for last. BEHOLD: A photo of two Cassette cases placed on a pink fabric backdrop.

The Cassettes in question are, left to right, Shonen Knife's Burning Farm and The Raincoats' self-titled debut.

When I first saw the one on the left, I instantly knew I had to have it. Not because I knew what it was, but because it looked funky. The other one I was more familiar with. I had heard a thing 'r two 'bout The Raincoats, but I hadn't really listened to 'em. So, being taken by surprise seeing it in the tape wall, I decided to get it. When I got home and actually started doing research on these albums I found out that there never was a Cassette of The Raincoats' self-titled debut ever made; and that the Shonen Knife one looked a little different than the one I saw online; and when I put the Shonen Knife Cassette into the player and tried to play it, it would be nothing but silence. I think you know where this is going...

A photo of two Cassette cases placed on a pink fabric backdrop.

The Cassettes in question are the same as the ones in the previous picture. But this time they have their respective Cassettes above both their cases (WOW!). Both Cassettes are Sony HF 90 minute type 1 (one) writable tapes. The one above Burning Farm isn't labeled (fitting). But the one above The Raincoats is labeled 'Raincoats 1979 Debut' (also fitting).

These are bootlegs! Fool's gold! False booty! Phoneys! Cloneys! Etc.

So, uhh... these are the first bootlegs I think I've ever bought! That's kinda cool... but what are my actual thoughts on these things. Well, I guess I should get the quickest one to talk about out of the way. The Shonen Knife one, as you've already heard, is just a blank tape. Which sucks, but luckly, Youtube exists! So I just listened to it there. (And, hey, you can never have enough blanks.)

Burning Farm isn't bad, but I'm not sure if I'd return to it anytime soon. However, one thing I found interesting was that the title track straight up just ripsoff/covers 'The Land Of A Thousand Dances' by Chris Kenner, which I find very funny. But outside of that, not much else to say.

The Raincoats Cassette, in contrast to Burning Farm, actually had the album on it! Yay! So I listened to that one on the Cassette itself. I quite enjoy it! If you're into Post-Punk and Avantgarde type stuff, I'd recommend this. I especially like 'You're a Million' and their cover of 'Lola' by The Kinks. You can check out their Bandcamp here. This was definitely the best of the haul.

Well, moving on from that section to a new section about something similar.
Me and my mom went to an antique store that recently opened, and I picked up this sick ass™ trivet That I now have hung on my wall.

A trivet with a painting of an anthropomorphic golf ball sitting on a beach chair, in a relaxed manor, in the sand.

There is a small website domain to be seen at the bottom-right with a copyright to the left of it.

Some of you may notice, there in the bottom-right, there's a website!
Sadly, the website is no longer around, but you can visit the archived website here if anthro golf balls are your thing. My favorite piece that isn't this one is probably 'Lost Ball'.

I quit Youtube a few weeks ago. Now, you might be thinking to yourself, "Didn't you just say you listened to Burning Farm through youtube" Well... you're sorta correct. I don't watch Youtube through Youtube anymore. I don't really watch Youtube at all anymore. Instead, what I do is I listen to music in an embeded Youtube video on a separate site (like Discogs). It feels pretty nice having quit. I mean, I wouldn't say I've been using Youtube for... however long I've used it, I'd say I was more 'addicted' than anything - I used it as a form of escapism, and it kinda took a toll on my mental health. I was constantly demoralized when hearing about whatever latest drama was happening every month, and this new AI crap is just one big excuse to detox. And detoxed I hope I stay.

In other news, I have a Last.fm now.
Yep, just replacing one social media with another (if you can call Last.fm a 'social media'). But, hey, now you can see what I've been listening to at any given moment!

And if you're wondering how I 'scorbble' well, I don't really stream music (discounting Youtube), but I do use Windows Media Player. And how I obtain my music is through ripping CDs to my computer. I do have a few albums I got through digital downloads on bandcamp and the like, but those are few and far between. I like collecting music, and, for some reason, it feels different listening to a thing that you bought digitally than to listen to something you physically own. I think it's mainly just a case of having a physical represetation of something can make you have a stronger bond to it than if it where a theoretical thing you own... yeah probably that.

And lastly, to end things off, the website.
I'm gonna work on this thing a little this week. So far I just wanna make it look a little more visually consistant. I might add some other stuff later, but so far, that's what I'm gonna do.

Anyway, this concludes the blog post that took me 2 days to create.
Yeah, I first started this post on the 24th, and I must've worked on it for, like, the whole day, on & off, but here I am, the 25th... picking up where I left yesterday. WHOOPS. Oh well.

Anyway, I wish you luck on this here monday. Chao!
